GUZAARISH
Guzaarish is an Indian movie released in 2010. It is written and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The subject is somewhat moralistic as the story is quite different from normal routine. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a master of his profession as his direction is excelent but sorry to say he is not a writer whenever he tries his hand in writin he fails. Guzaarish is one of such examples. He is portraying Ethan Mascarenhas (Rithik Roshan) as a lively, energetic crippled person restricted to his wheel chair and drastically showing him making a plea to the judge for mercy killing himself.
The story is about a magician who has become the prey of his own trick and now confines to a wheel chair. The set is 19th century Purtaguees who are living in Goa. The life of those people who are living their making a community is creating authentic environment. A club is shown where a singer is entertaining the club member. There Ethan also performed his magic and other purtaguees. We know their lives but the stories remain incomplete. Then come the radio life of Ethan who is admired by thousands of his liteners because of his lively chatting and beautiful interpretation of life. People do not know that these are the thoughts of a crippled man. Ethan is nursed by Sofia D’Souza (Aishwarya Rai) who is the wife of a drunkard and living a sort of escaped life from her husband in taking care of a crippled man who is totally dependant on her.
There are so contradictions present in the movie that we cannot justify anyone and not even feels sympathy as they are living their lives according to their will. They leave nothing on the part of other people and not for the God to have mercy on their conditions. The conclusion is if Bhansaali wants to get accomplishment for his movie to win an award leave the writing job atleast to a writer.
Talking about cinematography, it is excellent no doubt, bhansaali is great in taking the characters to the lives of the roles in story. It seems we are really seeing the people around us. Character delineation is authentic and costumes relevency gives grace to the characters. As Rithik look dashing even if he is on wheel chair, Aishwarya is looking stunned in her nurse job as she realisticallt performing the duties of a nurse. All the other characters are at ther best performing skills. The appearance of Omar Siddique (Aditya Roy Kapoor) is quite refreshing and his ambition to become a perfect magician impreeses Ethan to transfer his hirarchy to him willingly as a deservant.
We can say Guzaarish can be an award winning movie if Guzaarish is written in sympathetic way. As Ethan guzaarish style is not convincing enough to win the sympathies of audience. Please don’t blame Rithik for being playing the role of Ethan, Rithik do full justification with the character so is Aishwarya as they were assigned the script. If script would be strong they surely win the award.

Action Replayy is a Hindi movie released in 2010. It is written by Suresh Nair and Aatish Kapadia while directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah. The film is really an action replay of two main characters of the film who are husband and wife as well. The story is like a far-fetched dream to to move the characters of real life as if they are the chess riders. All types of odd can be expected in the film. This mind-spinning film has nothing to do with fun, quality time pass or a relaxation which is the foremost objective of art. One thing that relieve is the presence of high rank cast even then it becomes a tension how they accept to perform this type of movie?
Action Replayy is a quarrel some movie showing clashes, dashes and crashes scene after scene in full first half. You really surprise as to what extent the caricatures of real husband Kishen (Akshay Khanna) and wife Mala (Aishwarya Rai) are made and what is the director purpose? The breech between couple is so deep that their son Bunty (Aditya Rai Kapoor) has become an obstinate child who has no respect for his parents and failure of his parent’s marriage makes him allergic of married life. The thought of marriage with his girlfriend or even the demand from her side plays havoc upon his mind. After the warning of Professor his girlfriend’s grandfather he planned to go back in Future to transform his parents’ failed marriage into successful married life.
A sci-fi begins and Bunty has remote control now to see the whole atmosphere according to his own will. He travel backs to 70s when his parents were neighbor and hated one another. Bunty stops at this point of his parents’ life and it seems as if he is buying love and throwing hatred for and from respectively his parents.
Some of the songs were good and even melodious but songs were more than average. Rest it is taken care to prepare the costumes that were in fashion in 70s. Acting was not up to the mark we can axpect from Akshay and Aishwarya. Script was tangled having no sense and harmony. Thisgs are going on without reason and logic. One would only be bored seeing the film without purpose.

RAAVAN
Raavan is a Hindi film released in 2010. It is written and directed by Mani Ratnam. He is intending to manipulate the human being as there is no evil by nature. Circumstances and events make him so. He is in fact, trying to justify the action of Raavan against Ram. His tome is assertive that Raavan is not evil by nature man compels him to become evil incarnate. He finds no alternate but follow the nature.
Raavan, Beera (Abhishek Bachchan) has dislikness for police and brutally kills them wherever sees. Instead of Chor Sapahi, it is like Spahi Chore. Dev (Vikram) is a Police officer who is chasing Beera with his squad and a forest guide Sanjeevani Kumar (Govinda). Beera has kidnapped Dev’s Wife Ragini to avenge the death of his sister from Dev. Ragini has a bad image of Beera and remains afraid while Beera meant no harm to her. With the passage of time Ragini closely observed Beera and realized that he is not of a brutal nature. Both develop some feelings for one another but not share them.
Dev finds out Beera and Ragini with Beera escaped but left Ragini. Ragini in this journey with Raavan has lost her heart and now the remaining Ragini is with Dev. Dev feeling his wife’s condition enraged and accused her being unfaithfulness. Raavan died by showing his likeness for Ragini and Ragini shows by attempting to save him but Alas!
Film is a good fictional attempt to amend some of our thoughts about Raavan. Not all the evil incarnate are true Raavan they can be simpletons. Film start is impressive but later on it loose its interest by prolonged the story. However Mani Ratnam succeeds to gain the momentum in second half. Music seems excess but second half covers the loss done in first half.

The detective sort of comedy film ‘The Pink Panther 2’ is released in 2009 a routine sequel of the ‘Pink Panther’. It is written by Scott Neustadter and Micheal Weber and directed by Harald Zwart. One will find it an ancient detective movie which has no signs of progress with reference to the current century. It seems as if we are in olden times Harald readily sacrifice every change and introduction of modern touch to the film. His first purpose was to remind the audience of the same Pink Panther and to be continued sort of impression as someone pressing the ‘pause’ button and now once again pressing the ‘play’ button has continued the story.
The story begins when the renowned thief ‘Tornado’ thought to be active once again after a decade. This apprehension is made because of some evidences of stealing the precious pieces of art from different parts of the world. To resolve the issue and catch the Tornado, a team has made under the supervision of Chief Inspector Dreyfus (John Cleese) entitled Dream Team of International Detectives. Inspector Clouseau (Steve Martin) from France, Pepperidge from Britain, Vicenzo from Italy, Kenji a Japanese Electronics master and last but not the least Sonia from India who is expert in criminology. And Attention Please! It’s a Tom and Jerry Show.
Clouseau plays the role of Jerry and Sonia is Tom who is a hidden enemy in the Dream Team exposed by the Inspector Clouseau (Martin) and proves himself once again a master of his art of detective. The film is totally for the children as the stamp being made by introducing Pink Panther. It is desperate attempt on the part of director to attract the audience by merely introducing Aishwarya as a trump card. But if they go to cinema to watch film of Aishwarya ion English language they will really despair to find no enjoyment but surely teenagers.

Umrao Jaan
Umrao Jaan is a Hindi Movie released in 2006 has been taken from Urdu novel of Mirza Haadi Ruswa. It is converted into screenplay by J.P.Dutta and directed as well. This movie takes you to the period of nineties and makes you feel as if you are in Alif Laila’s world of magic visiting that era of history. It is like the success of the invention of Time Machine and the very tour is to the Umrao’s life story. You feel yourself as alien wearing the clothes quite different to the courtesan of that time. You appreciate their costumes and look to yourself having desire to be like them.
First glimpse is of Umrao’s (Childhood Miran / Aishwarya’s) father who is a witness and become the reason for Dilawar Khan (Vishwajeet Pradhan) to be sentenced for ten years. After coming out of jail he plays vengeance and kidnapped and sold Miran to Kotha wali in Lucknow (Shabana Azmi) who named her Umrao. The destiny seems to play with Miran’s life.
Second glimpse is that of beautiful young Umrao flourishing in the field of art especially poetry, music and dance. Everyone who once visit and view Umrao’s performance forget the way to home. Same thing happens to Nawab Sultan of Lucknow. This time something different happens as Umrao also falls in love with Nawab Sultan. Here again destiny takes a much worst turn and Nawab has to chose between Lineage or Umrao and he goes for Umrao. Khanam Sahib gets furious as she wants richness from Umrao’s lover or would be which was not possible in case of Sultan. She plays a trick and involves Faiz Ali (Suni Sethi) and eventually sells Umrao to him while Sultan has been fallen a prey to misapprehensions.
And a last glimpse is that of permanent misery, distressful, and pity condition of Umrao. Now continuous songs scene after scene and expression of grief prevails and a sort of repulsion starts creating among the time travelers and desire to see the end of this tragic drama soon but alas director is so involved in creating drama and raising sympathy for Umrao and goes too far to succeed in his struggle.
Although best pictorial representation, cinematography, Aishwarya heart catching performance and other major and minor characters play well their roles yet film remain unsuccessful in box office. And time travelers (spectators) come out of the time machine (cinema) with sorrow for Umrao but also sorrow for the time waste as it take too much time to see a distressful end. Would it be better to cut short the movie to the level of patience of audience it hit the Box Office.
